William was a machinist and was operating engineer for the city of Charlotte Water Filtering Plant when he died. He was an outgoing person who never knew a stranger and was one of Charlotte's early volunteer policeman. His picture is on file in the court house. He lived in a house furnished him by the city. He had diabetes and was treated at the old St. Peters Hospital until he was sent home. In those days there was no medication such as insulin, etc, (By son Walter Jackson Killough) |
