  On February 4th, 2001 the Union West Regional Public Library Commencement Ceremonies were held. The Rufus Killough Family once again displayed its community spirit by taking part in the ceremonies and by a collective family contribution that would help to insure the best for the community.

Ney Killough of Indian Trail, NC spoke of the changes he has seen since 1919 when he was born. He spoke of the importance of having a good library.

  Lane Deese Vickery a cousin of the Killough Family, a member of the     Indian Trail Town Council and a member of the Union County Library   Board was a principal speaker at the ground breaking ceremony

Indian Trail Brownies recite Pledge

  It was a cold February day but the community felt the importance of being on hand to get the project off to a good start. Everyone came from our eldest, to the Boy Scouts and  these young Brownies shown here reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Groundbreaking ceremonies, Ney Killough and Ray Killough take part

The time finally came for the initial groundbreaking. They ran out of shovels before they got to me and I didn't have time to go home and get one, but I still enjoyed the great enthusiasm that was in the air.
