In 1952 a tornado came through Stallings and Indian Trail, NC. In it's wake it left these two airplanes entangled in the same oak tree. The planes belonged to Steve Killough, a Piper Super Cruiser and to his brother Archie Killough, a Piper J-3 Cub. |

Archie and Steve spent countless hours preparing the landing strip on highway 74 at Indian Trail, NC, They finally brought their planes in and staked them out under the big oak trees. Soon after came the storm that would destroy both airplanes. |

Not long after the mishap Archie had disassembled the J-3 and began to restore it as a clipped wing stunt plane. Johnny Crowell was instrumental in the rebuild. |
